They have the knowledge, the heart, and the time. But where is the person for them to pour into?
This does not have to be elusive. Below are some real examples from my life showing a variety of places I have met people to discipleship.

The question: What is your biggest roadblock in discipleship? What is the biggest roadblock to people pouring their life into another spiritually?
The answer: Time. I don’t have time. They don’t have time. I get it. As a mom of two busy sons with a full schedule of speaking engagements, writing deadlines, exercising, and errands, the sheer thought of trying to line my schedule up with somebody else’s is almost impossible … almost. Written by Lori Joiner, featured in Katy Christian Magazine https://www.katychristianmagazine.com/2021/04/13/the-gracious-hand-of-god/ Around Easter time each year, believers in Christ all around the world reflect and consider the nail-pierced hands of Jesus probably more than any other time of the year. It’s a time that makes us think about His hands and feet pierced upon the cross for our iniquities.
However, the crucifixion accounts are not the only places where God’s hands are mentioned. Matter of fact, there are several verses, too many for even this article, that mention the hand of God. For example, in Deuteronomy 3:24, we learn of the strength of God’s hand, “O Sovereign Lord, you have only begun to show your greatness and the strength of your hand to me, your servant…” In Joshua 4:24, we read of his powerful hand, “He did this so all the nations of the earth might know that the Lord’s hand is powerful, and so you might fear the Lord your God forever.” Written by Lori Joiner, featured in Katy Christian Magazine https://www.katychristianmagazine.com/2021/01/29/powerful-effective-prayers-part-1/ It is easy to lose hope in prayer when we don’t feel as if our prayers matter. We wonder if they are even being heard; we wonder if we are praying correctly. We wonder if we are hindering our own prayers somehow. There could be temptations to throw up our hands and think, “Why bother?”
James 5:16 says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Do your prayers seem powerful and effective? In this two-part series, we will explore why our prayers are not as productive or powerful as we would like and what can be done about it. Written by Lori Joiner, featured in Katy Christian Magazine https://www.katychristianmagazine.com/2021/02/12/powerful-effective-prayers-part-2/ Do your prayers seem powerful and effective? In part one of this series, I shared how many people do not feel their prayers are effective because they either do not think they can change God’s mind, or they are simply losing hope.
In part two of this series, we will explore two more reasons our prayers may not be as effective or powerful as we would hope. Written by Lori Joiner, featured in Katy Christian Magazine https://www.katychristianmagazine.com/2020/10/16/seeking-gods-will/ Many people think that knowing God’s will for their lives is like shooting an arrow in the dark hoping they hit the target. We may even wish God would show up to us in dream or send a stranger to pick us out of a crowd and exclaim, “Thus says the Lord, you should do this!”
Seeking God’s will does not have to be that way! Jesus did not die on the cross and save you from your sins to leave you wandering and confused as to what you are supposed to do next. As a matter of fact, we actually have solid biblical principles to guide us in how to seek God’s will for our lives. Three principles to remember when seeking God’s will are: God reveals His will through His Word, His people and His voice. Written by Lori Joiner, featured in Katy Christian Magazine |
